Keedie and her husband to be - although she didn't know it at the time - flew out to the fabulous city of Singapore on an important engagement - to sing at a private pre-race party for the Ferrari Formula One Racing Team - but little did she know that there would be a second engagement planned for her. On the eve of the Formula One inaugural Singapore Grand Prix. Keedie entertained the members of the Ferrari entourage with her stunning and extraordinary vocal talents and she certainly made it a night to remember for the packed audience where it was hoped that the Ferrari team could match Keedie's performance the following evening with their talents on the race track! The Italian team was on a definite course for a one two finish when Nelson Piquet's crash brought out the safety car, triggering a sequence of events that inevitably shuffled Ferrari pair Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen to the back of the field and allowed Renault's Fernando Alonso to win the race.
When the safety car came out Massa was leading and Raikkonen was closing on second-placed Hamilton. The two Ferraris dived for the pits, where Massa was mistakenly given a signal to go and dragged a section of his refuelling rig with him! Raikkonen recovered to fifth place, before crashing out in the closing stages, while Massa was classified 13th. It certainly was a sad evening for Ferrari but not for Keedie! She was overjoyed when boyfriend James Green, who is himself an avid racing driver, got down on one knee and made a proposal of marriage to her! Buzzing with excitement Keedie could not wait to get back to her home town of Paignton, in glorious Devon, to organise one of the most important parties of her life! The happy couple's engagement party took place on Saturday 25th October 2008 at the Spinning Wheel venue on Paignton seafront where, incidentally, Keedie first took to the stage with her tremendous talents back in 1993 at the age of just eleven years old.
KEEDIE AND FAMILY AT THE SPINNING WHEEL
The Spinning Wheel on Paignton Seafront has a long established reputation for being Torbay's number one entertainment venue. With an atmospheric series of bars serving ales, beers, lagers, wines and spirits as well as a large selection of non alcoholic drinks, the Spinning Wheel also provides an exciting program of nightly entertainment, including live music, dance music with resident DJ and weekly karaoke. What better place to have your party? Keedie & James wanted their Engagement Party to be totally fantastic - it had to be in their home town - with family and friends - and at the venue where so many magical memories were revived - it had to be where Keedie first started out on the road to becoming one of the worlds top female classical pop crossover performers, so they chose the Spinning Wheel - and what a totally mind blowing party it was!!
For many years Keedie, along with her sister Nadine and best friend Kelly ( performing as Keedie & Co ) entertained the holiday makers of Torbay - and locals alike, at the Spinning Wheel with their pulsating pop songs and it was the perfect foundation for Keedie to develop her phenominal natural talent for singing for the years that followed and, after winning many major talent shows as a solo artist, it was time to release her first single to the world entitled - I Believe My Heart -on which she dueted with Duncan James from the band Blue, which shot straight to number two in the charts and was closely followed by the release of her first classical pop album which was also entitled 'I Believe My Heart' and stormed into the classical charts at number four. Did the titles of these two hit records suggest anything to Keedie at the time? Well, she certainly followed her heart to the man that she loves, and adores, and the man who she later married at Cockington Church.
